We recently finished a full bathroom renovation in which we mixed metal finishes, a timeless vanity, simple mirror, glamorous sconce lighting, vintage flooring with a modern twist, elegant bevelled wall tile, and boho-inspired textiles. All the fixtures are Kohler and all other items were purchased from various stores (Etsy sconces, Ikea mirror, Nate Berkus textiles, and CB2 accessories). Here's the final product (all work was completed by Repici Contracting):
We were motivated to mix polished chrome and brass/gold fixtures- our client loved the idea of incorporating brass into the design but shied away from an all-brass look. We mitigated her concerns by opting for polished chrome on the more "semi-permanent" finishes (tub/shower/sink fixtures and faucet) and brass for the finishes that could potentially be changed out easily in the future if she loses interest in the trend (like the sconces, toilet paper holder, and trash can). The two metals compliment each other in a lovely way, playing nicely off the honed marble hexagon mosaic floor tile and bevelled subway wall tile. The addition of some bohemian/global textiles in a black and white palette complete the overall look.
